Chris Sweet – Senior Fantasy Analyst: The Wagner Wire

I hope everyone had a great Holiday Weekend full of food, football, and family. It is now one of the most important weeks of the Fantasy Football Season. Week 13 is the last week of the regular season in many leagues so those Byes and last playoffs spots are on the line. Without further ado here are 69 things I took away from Week 12.

  1. The Dallas Cowboys and any Fantasy owners of theirs sure miss Ezekiel Elliott. The offense is just completely out of synch.
  2. Rod Smith is an interesting guy to pick up for the playoffs with Alfred Morris struggling and Darren McFadden retiring after being waived.
  3. In a season of errors by the Giants they have decided to bench Eli Manning ending his 210 games started streak. The punchline follows…he is being benched for Geno Smith.
  4. This probably isn’t great news for Evan Engram owners but hopefully, Geno will target him often.
  5. The Eagles continue to be one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL.
  6. Jay Ajayi is nothing more than a part-time player. A totally lost season if you drafted him in the first 2 rounds.
  7. Carson Wentz is cementing his status as the Dynasty QB1 going forward. Zach Ertz may be the TE1 as well.
  8. Jamison Crowder has really come on in the past month. He is Kirk Cousins clear #1 target going forward.
  9. After a poor start to his rookie season, Samaje Perine has turned the corner and reeled off back to back 100-yard games on the ground.
  10. The Bills renamed Tyrod Taylor the starting QB. The Bills won. Not so tough.
  11. Zay Jones has had an up and down rookie season. He has seen 17 targets in his last 2 games.
  12. Jarvis Landry just scores double digits every single week. He’s always undervalued unless you own him.
  13. It’s time to pick Kenyan Drake back up if he was dropped in your league.
  14. Robby Anderson is on the shortlist for the Top value of the year. He was drafted near the end of drafts or not at all.
  15. Josh McCown has been much better than expected if you had to use him this season.
  16. Gronk is coming off a 2 TD game and now gets to face the Bills. The TE1 has feasted on the Bills defense during his career.
  17. Brandin Cooks has 5 or more receptions in 6 of his last 7 games.
  18. The Patriots are using Dion Lewis as their main RB. He has returned RB2 value in each of the past 3 games.
  19. Danny Woodhead does not seem to be a usable option right now. You could really say that about any Ravens offensive player.
  20. The Ravens Team Defense, however, is an every week starter.
  21. It took 12 weeks but we finally have the Joe Mixon breakout game.
  22. Tyler Kroft has been a low-end TE1 in ppr the past month.
  23. It is finally here if you have him stashed. It is Josh Gordon Week.
  24. Isaiah Crowell should be a decent dfs play this week.
  25. After a very shaky start to the season, it is safe to start Ben Roethlisberger every week again.
  26. Antonio Brown has 1195 receiving yards and 8 TDs. There are 5 games left in the season.
  27. I feel bad for people playing against Le’Veon Bell in the fantasy playoffs.
  28. The Bears had no fantasy relevant players in Week 12.
  29. Don’t let that stop you from playing Jordan Howard the next 2weeks against SF and Cincy.
  30. Marvin Jones has really become a fantasy star in 2017. He started hot in 2016 before tailing off but 2017 has been much more consistent.
  31. There’s not much else to say about the Lions offense.
  32. Jamal Williams had a really strong game on Monday Night against the Steelers. He now gets a reeling TB Bucs Defense.
  33. Davante Adams continues to impress with Brett Hundley at QB.
  34. Just a quiet 8 for 89 from Adam Thielen last week.
  35. Latavius Murray has played well. I can only imagine what Dalvin Cook’s stat line would look like if he hadn’t been injured.
  36. Case Keenum has thrown 7 TDs in his last 3 games.
  37. Hey, what do you know? That Julio Jones guy is pretty good if you throw him the ball.
  38. Tevin Coleman looked like an RB1 without Devonta Freeman around.
  39. Devin Funchess continued his strong season with 7 catches for 108 yards against the Jets.
  40. Greg Olsen may give it a go again this week. Hard to trust his health right now.
  41. It’s hard to fully wrap your head around what Alvin Kamara is doing on a weekly basis.
  42. Alvin Kamara is averaging over 8 yards per touch on 123 touches. That is more than any running back in the past 25 years.
  43. I’ve heard a lot of people say Mike Evans isn’t a bust. Ok, maybe not but I doubt if the Mike Evans owner is getting a bye next week.
  44. Doug Martin seems like his days of being a starting RB in the NFL are coming to a close.
  45. Another Tom Savage start, another strong performance from DeAndre Hopkins.
  46. Lamar Miller has been a fine RB2 this year.
  47. Frank Gore is old and there is no ceiling…but he is still not close to being the worst starting RB in the NFL.
  48. Jack Doyle is having a very nice season.
  49. Leonard Fournette has had a few bad games but he gets a dream matchup against Indy this week.
  50. The Jacksonville Defense continues to get it done every week.
  51. Delanie Walker is still getting it done.
  52. Corey Davis has struggled in many aspects this year.
  53. The Broncos will go back to Trevor Siemian at QB
  54. It’s hard to trust any Bronco right now.
  55. Kareem Hunt has gone from the best player in fantasy to an afterthought.
  56. Alex Smith has gone from MVP frontrunner to Alex Smith.
  57. Philip Rivers is red hot and might have the best playoff schedule of any QB.
  58. Keenan Allen has had a nice floor all season. Welcome to his ceiling.
  59. Michael Crabtree will miss one game for his tangle with Aqib Talib.
  60. With Amari Cooper possibly out due to concussion protocol that would leave Cordarelle Patterson and Seth Roberts as the main targets for Derek Carr.
  61. You can officially pick up Ricky Seals-Jones.
  62. Blaine Gabbert has played well in his 2 starts.
  63. Jared Goff bounced back from a tough game against the Vikings by dismantling the Saints pass defense.
  64. Cooper Kupp should continue to rack up receptions in Robert Woods absence.
  65. This was Todd Gurley’s 7th game of 120 or more yards from scrimmage.
  66. Carlos Hyde had 13 targets on Sunday and leads the 49ers with 73 targets on the season.
  67. The Jimmy Garoppolo era will start in SF this Sunday.
  68. Russell Wilson might not win the NFL MVP but he may be the Fantasy MVP.
  69. Jimmy Graham is an Elite Fantasy TE once again.

Good Luck in Week 13 and grab those playoff spots. Until next week, I’m your Sweet Fantasy.
