Today we dive into our preliminary Wide Receiver Rankings. Over the past five years wide receivers have completely overtaken running backs as the higher scoring skill position. In some years the WR30 was as good as the RB10. Last year saw a bit of a resurgence of the running backs, at least at the top, and the league as a whole will slowly transition that way I would guess, but I think the WRs are poised for a big bounce back this year. The top 3 WR are the same as last year, and I don’t expect any of them to fall off. Antonio Brown is the closest thing we have seen since to Jerry Rice retired, and Brown can set his own record by recording 100 catches again this year. OBJ will finally have strong receivers on the other side to take some focus off of him, and Julio Jones has the reigning MVP throwing him the ball. I’m also expecting bounce back years (You won’t see the term positive regression on this site) from some 2015 studs that will fall down a few rounds this year making them great values.

The thing about WRs that makes them different from RBs is that there are far more of them that are productive, so you can always find a starter late in the draft, or even on the wire during the season. We are basing these rankings on PPR scoring with a 3WR league. On to the preseason rankings…
